This site was designed easily using Homestead Site Builder. The only problem, is that you have to host your site with Homestead in order to use the site building software. Did I say problem? There really isn't a problem - the slightly higher hosting fees are worth using the fantastic software!
Are gonna take a crack at designing a website yourself? The first question you come up against almost instantly of course is, "What the heck do I need?". If you have the time and energy, you can buy a program like Dreamweaver or ye olde Microsoft Frontpage (now discontinued, but a standard), learn the software and go to it! Or, you can do it the easier, softer way, by getting a host that has sitebuilding software. Most hosts have free sites - heck, we provide a freebie tool at our site - www.zantar.com.
All the leading do-it-yourself design suites are WYSIWYG. Ah, c'mon Moneygirl, what the heck is that, you ask? WYSIWYG stands for What You See Is What You Get. All the leading design tools feature WYSIWYG abilities.
So, besides Homestead (which I heartily recommend), there are several other web hosts I recommend. Most of these are at the low-medium end of pricing. Most have various plans for larger site usage, using ecommerce, shopping carts, etc. But all of these have definitely good budget plans for starters. Hey - you can always upgrade your service later!
Check out the services we have on this page - I'm sure you'll find one that suits your needs! I've had them checked out by experts - and by me!
I know, I know. I love amazon.com. I've had a crush on amazon since they began. What could be better then having your favorite books, foods and kits to train a cat to use a toilet delivered to you at home????
